Both are recent, both are real. Our read: enforcement is uneven and tightening, and that is not something to discover the week payroll is due. Plan for the local account, just not on day one.
What we would actually do with this
- Open the EMI the week the company exists. Operate.
- Start the local bank application once there are a few months of clean activity, with your provider making the introduction. The banking guide has the document pack and the decline traps.
- If you hit IBAN discrimination (a Cyprus body refusing a valid EU IBAN), that has an EU-law angle, and threads increasingly mention pushing back on it. Worth knowing before you fold.
One more thing the threads surface that no bank page will: Wise availability in Cyprus has been patchy for new business accounts, and people who closed old Revolut accounts sometimes cannot reopen. Test your EMI access before incorporation week, not during it.
